Root Canal Therapy

by ABC Dental

Root Canal Treatment also known as Endodontic Treatment is a dental treatment to repair and save a badly damaged or infected tooth instead of removing it.

Teeth have a soft core called dental pulp. The pulp extends from the crown (the visible part of the tooth) to the tip of the tooth’s root in the jawbone. The pulp contains nerves, blood vessels and connective tissue. When a tooth is cracked or has a deep cavity, bacteria can enter the pulp. Left untreated, bacteria and decaying material can cause a serious infection or a tooth abscess, leading to pulp death, bone loss and loss of the tooth itself. Signs and symptoms may include swelling around your face and neck, a hole in your tooth, toothache or tooth pain, gum swelling, and temperature sensitivity.

All teeth and dental conditions do vary from different individuals and our dentist will need to see you first for a consultation to examine your teeth. During your consultation, our dentist will kindly explain the procedure/ cost involved for your treatment and they will also provide you with a detailed treatment plan.

A series of dental appointments, normally 2-3 stages are needed to completely treat the tooth. If the treatment is not completed, there is a risk of further discomfort, possibly leading to an abscess and risking the life of the tooth.

All of our dentists are trained to carry out root canal therapy treatment. If specialist care is required, our dentist will kindly discuss this option with you and will provide you with a referral to see an endodontist.

We understand that you need to choose the option that is best for you. For further information required and/ or to book your appointment, please feel free to contact our clinic on 02 9388 9788 and our friendly staff will be happy to assist you.
